Being a multi-technology research project, the consortium has a multi-disciplinary knowledge in very different technical areas related to overall thermal issues, mechanical aspects and new materials development. The contribution of each of the partners to the proposed research is based on its specific background related to one or several of the technologies.

The project partners constitute a reliable supply chain capable of achieving the project objectives. The consortium is well balanced and integrated at European level (Spain, France, Italy, Portugal), which is a need for satellite platform manufacturing.


  • IberEspacio

    Ibérica del Espacio, S.A. (IberEspacio) is the coordinator of the project and it is the responsible of the design, manufacturing and testing of the DPR. IberEspacio, as a leader in providing thermal control products, has the necessary expertise to design, manufacture and test the proposed DPR design. Furthermore, being LHP part of the core business of the company, IberEspacio ensures the maximum interest in this project and its compromise to make the required effort for its success, and to assure the future usefulness of the results.IberEspacio is a Spanish Company, whose leading role within the Aerospace sector is the development and production of thermal control hardware, as well as the supply of engineering services mainly in the areas of propulsion, thermal control and flight data analysis. IberEspacio is able to size, design, assemble and integrate complete thermal control subsystems that combine products manufactured in-house (HPs, LHPs, MLI, Radiator Panels including OSR bonding) with externally procured hardware (SSMs, EEE components such as heaters and thermistors, etc).

    In France, Thales Alenia Space is in charge of the system specification issuing for a telecom application and ensuring all along the project the consistency between the system needs and the DPR development, by reviewing and commenting all documentation available at each step of the project. Based on its skills in mechanisms, they help the consortium in the development of the deployment mechanism to be fully compliant with system requirements.
    In Italy, they have a wide expertise in design, integration and operation of large space systems. They are in charge of a radiator panel for LEO applications design, manufacturing and testing to demonstrate the scalability, flexibility and adaptability of the proposed DPR design. Thales Alenia Space gives also support in vacuum test campaign of the different DPR models.



    SENER is responsible for the design, manufacturing, assembly and testing of the DPR Deployment Mechanism for Development and Qualification model.SENER is established as an entirely Spanish, privately owned Company, devoting its activities to professional consulting and architect-engineering services. These activities extend over a broad field from feasibility and conceptual studies through basic and detailed design and engineering, quality controls, etc., to project management, construction supervision, commissioning and testing. SENER initiated its activities in space with development of Control Electronic Units to drive and control the produced mechanisms. Control engineering capabilities are also developed to integrate complete electromechanical systems.


  • Active Space

    ACTIVE SPACE TECHNOLOGIES is responsible for the structural modelling and manufacturing of the machined parts of the DPR QM and the prototypes. Additionally, it is in charge of the design and manufacturing of MGSE, as well as of the mechanical testing of the DPR QM with the support of IberEspacio.Active Space Technologies is a private Portuguese SME whose areas of expertise are: Mechanical Engineering (structural, thermal, CAD, precision CNC) and Systems and Control (embedded systems, digital control).


  • Tecnalia Research & Innovation

    TECNALIA is in charge of the new materials development, in particular the replacement of the chromium-based coatings currently used in the DPR by alternative chromium-free surface treatments and coatings.TECNALIA is a private, independent, non profit research organisation in Spain resulting from the merger of eight research centers: Cidemco, European Software Institute, European Virtual Engineering, Fatronik, Inasmet, Labein, Leia and Robotiker. Tecnalia operates in the following market sectors: Industry and Transport, ICT, Sustainable Construction, Energy and Environment, Innovation Strategies, Health and Quality of Life and Technological Services. TECNALIA has been involved in more than 30 studies for space applications for ESA and private customers. TECNALIA has wide expertise in the field of chemical conversion coatings, sol-gel, metal and alloy plating, anodizing, polymeric coatings and surface cleaning, including the scale up of processes.
